Typical methods of advertising-newspapers, radio and television are effective if used properly, but there are other, less expensive ways to get your company's name out.

Local or cable television is an inexpensive alternative to the traditional forms of advertising. Even if finances are a concern (as they are for most of us), you'll be surprised to discover a 30 second spot television ad can cost as little as a few hundred dollars.

We sent releases to all the stations in our area when we started our support group, and this generated three times the number of people we expected for our first meeting.

Since most major newspapers are expensive to advertise in, check with the smaller local papers. You can advertise in many of these for as little as $25 a month. You could also offer to write a column for these publications, as an expert in the area, if appropriate.

We all need to advertise in one way or another. Which medium you choose will depend on your particular business.

Adsense and frames

Adsense. Many website use frames and this used to create a problem for Adsense.

A frames Page is a special type of web page that splits the browser window into different areas.Each of these areas are called Frames.

Each Frame can display a different web page within it.

The Frames Page itself does not contain any content that the viewer can see.Instead it holds formatting information about the individual frames and how they should be displayed.For example,it can specify whether the individual frames have visible borders around them.

Framed sites can be set up so that a hyperlink in one frame can trigger the display of a new page in another frame.This is ideal for website menus:you set up a series of options in,say,a left-hand column frame and each link causes a different page to be displayed in a central page.

To get Adsense to work correctly in framed sites you need to do 2 things: 1.Select the Framed Pages tick box on the ad layout code page in your Adsense account. 2.Insert this code into the same Frame as your page's main content.

The biggest drawback to using this tool is the fact that a lot of other people use it for keyword research too and it's impossible to get a 100% accurate estimate of traffic. However, it is still free and can provide you with a general estimate that you can use.

I like this tool because it will give you the top 200 keywords searched for in that market on the Google search engine, which, after all is where most people want to be at the top of for their niche. The only drawback with this tool is that it doesn't give word count so you won't know how many searches are actually being done on each keyword phrase. Still, it's 100% free and I recommend that you take advantage of it for writing pages of web content and article marketing if nothing else.

There are actually much better options for doing pay per click keyword research and I highly recommend that you use them. Tools such as Wordtracker, Keyword Discovery, Keyword Country, Nichebot and others all cost a fee to use, but you'll have solid research to go by BEFORE you start spending your money. After all, if you're going to invest in a pay per click campaign doesn't it make sense to invest in the proper tools to run it with? The choice is up to you.

When deciding whether to incorporate Adsense into your website there are several factors to consider. Many feel that it diminishes their brand, whilst others see it as a useful tool for visitors which creates revenues and makes their content profitable.

This may sound clich?, but the possibilities are endless with Adsense.

How much money do you want to make? I bet you can do it with the Google Adsense program!

Want to make six figures a year? You can!

Lets say your goal is to make $100,000 per year with just money from Adsense. That's about $8,333 per month. Break it down even further and it's roughly $278 per day.

$278 per day with JUST Adsense is easier than you think!

In our experience, each site we create makes an average of $40 per day. But we've heard the average person makes about $20/day with their Adsense sites? so lets use that as an example.

If you can create web sites that make you $20/day, you would only need 14 of them in order to reach your six-figure goal.

And with the tools and information you get from Adsense School, you could easily make more than $20/day for each adsense site you create! It's all a numbers game!

Can you quit your job?

Technically, yes, you can quit your job. It's fairly easy to make enough money to live off of. The real question is SHOULD you quit your job? That's something you have to decide for yourself.

How To Get Google Adsense To Target A Specific Section Of A Web Page

Google has added a great new feature. It is called section targeting. This allows you to add html code to your page to tell the Adsense crawler what section of the page you would like the crawler to pay attention to when choosing the adds for your page. This can be a very important feature especially if you have a large web site. For example I have a large arthritis website. The term arthritis is in my URL. The title of the page has arthritis in it. The shared borders have links with the term arthritis in it. Unfortunately not every page in the site is about arthritis. This is typical of many sites. What happens is that the crawler sees arthritis in the top shared border and in the left shared border and even on pages that are not about arthritis I get arthritis adds.

If you use shared borders or frames you can tell the crawler what section of the page you want it to look at. I begin the code after the tag at the beginning of the content section and before the tag at the end of the content section. This way the crawler looks at the content for that specific page. As a result each page gets more accurate ads distributed to it.

You can also add the code to just a section of the body of the page. If you have one or more paragraphs you want to high light then add the code just before the paragraph and after the paragraph that you want to high light.

What is section targeting and how do I implement it?

Section targeting allows you to suggest sections of your text and HTML content that you'd like us to emphasize or downplay when matching ads to your site's content. By providing us with your suggestions, you can assist us in improving your ad targeting. We recommend that only those who are at least a little familiar with HTML attempt to implement section targeting.

To implement section targeting, you'll need to add a set of special HTML comment tags to your code. These tags will mark the beginning and end of whichever section(s) you'd like to emphasize or de-emphasize for ad targeting.

The HTML tags to emphasize a page section take the following format:

Including insufficient content may result in less relevant ads or PSAs. In addition, please keep in mind that this feature should only be used to emphasize significant sections of your site's relevant content. 6 More Free Steps To Making Money Online

If you read my previous article you will know that the goal of these articles is to teach you ways to get started making money online without having to spend any money.

This is the second in the series and this time we deal with having your own blog. There are endless ways of making money once you have traffic, and your blog will get you traffic. The income we will be looking at today will come from Google Adsense.

There are multiple benefits to having a blog including the low cost (or no cost), the resources that will help you get traffic to your blog and the fact that you can provide your blog as an RSS feed. An RSS feed will allow readers to automatically receive your updates into their RSS reader.

Let's get started with our 6 steps.

1. Set up your blog. You will need to decide what you are going to blog about. You should decide on a theme and name your blog appropriately.

There are a number of free ways to set up a blog & to have it hosted for free. We will go with Blogger.com for our first blog.

Blogger will allow you to set up a blog for free they will host it for free and they will ping search engines every time you update, meaning you will get spidered & found.

Visit blogger.com & click the button on the front page labelled 'create your blog now' then follow the step by step instructions that Blogger provide.

Some key settings you will want to get right are:

  • 'Host your blog at Blogger' = Yes

  • 'Add your blog to our listings' = Yes

  • 'Ping Weblogs.com' = Yes
  • 'Publish Site Feed' = Yes 2. Write some content. Before we move any further there has to be some information on the site & that means that you have to make some entries. You can write some of these entries yourself & some can be quotes from sites of interest to your reader that you can post using the Google Toolbar.

    You can download the Google toolbar for free at toolbar.google.com. The toolbar includes a Blogger button. When you visit a site that has something of interest to your readers you can highlight the appropriate text & click the Blogger button. The content will then be added to your blog along with a link back to the site.

    3. Once you have some content eg a weeks worth of blogging with 1 or 2 entries for everyday, you can apply for an adsense account. When you sign in to Blogger you will see an invitation to join Adsense. Use this link and apply for an account.

    You can find out all about Adsense on the Adsense page but basically you get Google ads on your site & get paid if your visitor clicks them.

    Google will decide what adverts show on your site based on the content it finds within.

    You need to be aware that Google will decline your application if your site is not considered to have content. Nobody outside of Google knows the precise rules on this.

    Once you have been accepted you can get some javascript from Google to add to you site. Copy this & then log in to Blogger.

    Once you have logged into your blog you will see that one of the tabs across the top of the screen is labelled 'Template'. Click this. You will need to know a little bit of HTML to help find the right location to paste your Google code. But with a little experimentation you will find the right place for you. See the resource box at the end of this article for more help.

    I would suggest that the ads need to be seen when the site loads but should not be too obvious or dominate your site.

    4. Write some more content. Try and keep your content coming at regular intervals as a number of directories will check on your site at regular intervals & the smarter ones will visit on a schedule based on your update schedule. They will probably determine this in the hours after you first submit to them. Which is what we will do next.

    5. Submit your site to Blog & RSS directories. Because you are hosting at Blogger, Weblogs.com will already be notified when you update your blog. (That means that every time you make a new entry they are automatically notified) You will need to manually submit to the various other directories some of which will require a link on your site to theirs.

    6. Keep writing interesting content. Ideally you want people to come back again and again. As with customers its harder to get a new visitor than to keep existing visitors. So make it interesting, in fact make it so interesting that they can't help but tell all their friends about it also.

    As with most free ways to make money this will take time to get going, but if you can build a following you will make money.

    You DON'T need a lot of traffic to make your website a screaming success.

Websites claim that these tests, usually developed by a "top psychologist", have the ability to understand you and your needs through a series of questions. Confused? Lost in love? Problems communicating? Don't worry, the Online Dating Hal 5000 can figure you out! In fact, when you're done, this computer program will know your needs and desires better than you do.

    Remember the Broadway play "Fiddler on The Roof"? You might not, it was the first Broadway play I went to when I was seven. A song that always stuck in my head for some reason was "matchmaker, matchmaker, make me a match... " The song starts as a plea to the matchmaker to bring true love straight to the altar; someone beautiful, rich, intelligent, and perfect.

    But by the end of the song, the singer realizes that the Matchmaker might not be up to the task. She decides that "playing with matches, a girl can get burned".

    Personality tests have a long history. Really, really smart guys with names like Freud, Maslov, Fromm, and Jung developed respected psychological theories, and these theories are used as the basis for all types of tests.     I joke a little about these theories, but the truth is that they've survived the test of time and there is a ton of scientific research behind them. The real question is if these tests can be effective in applying a theory to the complexity of a human being. Add to this the additional layer of meshing your answers with another, equally complex person. That's a tall order.

    People have impulsive behavior that simply can't be measured when they're sitting, relaxed and introspective, taking one of these tests. Often our answers reflect our perfect (or hopeful) idea of ourselves. Even if we are trying our best to be honest, our impulsive behavior in real-life situations can be far different than we'd expect.

    Another wildcard is attraction. We can meet someone who's empirically good-looking, has a similar background, is kind and successful – and yet we're not attracted. Often we can't explain why we like another person. It may be how they make us laugh, a crooked smile – even how they smell! Sometimes little things that are immeasurable on their own can collectively make us attracted.

    Human beings and our emotions and desires are far too complex, and a computer program can't solve the riddles of our romantic lives. As Jung put it, "the meeting of two personalities is like the contact of two chemical substances; if there is a reaction both are transformed". It sounds good, but even Jung was hedging his bet when it comes to love. What will cause two individuals to react to each other? Even the developers of the study of personality would not presume that a series of questions could predict romance.

    If you rely solely on matchmaking services, you are missing the entire beauty of online dating. The beauty is opportunity. Online dating offers you an almost limitless opportunity to meet and date new people. It gives you the time and space to find what best suits you.
